Need 2-3 weeks before the creek will start getting good, nothing at this point.

Launched the Big boat, attached the suzuki to the back and trolled from the ramp to about 1/4 mile above the 377 bridge. Nothing, and a whole lot more of nothing. No shad balls seen at all, not much of anthing. Only interesting thing was, I saw a ton of fish in a specific area. On the way back I stopped and fished for a bit, they were not sand bass. Gar, and I mean stacked like cars in a parking lot. It looks like the gar all converged to this spot to stop the run. It is amazing. I will attach pictures from the area. Some of the fish were aligned side by side, and I found that I could cast over them and occasionally snag them.. Caught many gar and one carp on 6lb test and it was fun, none of the gar survived.. Caught a couple gar that were bigger than my leg, pure power that put up a great battle.. But as for the run, nothing yet.. If anyone can tell me how to get the recordings off the Hummingbird I will share. All I can get is the snapshots. Recorded the side image from the boat launch to the 377 bridge..

Safety: There is a spot just up from the boat ramp, when you take the first left going up. There is a big tree in the middle of the creek, I eased to the right side and bumped something. It was not there last year. If you run you will likely take out a lower unit. I had the big motor part way down and it bumped. The google map shows it out of the water but it is not at this time. Last year it was the deep side. ALSO: The railroad bridge at 377 is a bad spot as well. It is about 3 feet, and i bumped there as well. Do not run under the 377 bridge or the railroad bridge.. Something is hung up on the pillars.

I am still rendering the video, but might add some highlights in this later.

All the pix below are from the Gar spot.. snagged a carp and a bunch of gar with jigs I use for sandbass. But they have wicked sharp hooks. Note: Except for this spot, it looked like the creek was a ghost town.

thanks for the update. i went up right when the cold front hit, before the snow and there was what I believed to be a small sunken jon boat east of the 377 bridge. got skunked too.

I also thought it looked like a buffalo, then I had to take a second look. Almost looked like a bull shad, but its mouth was so small. Never seen A gold colored buffalo but you may be right. It didn't have the typical carp mouth..

The colors can be different but the two biggest takeaways are the downward pointed mouth and the lack of barbels.

Thanks for the great report and like some of the other guys have said it's probably 2 weeks and maybe 3 behind a typical season run.

I recall a few years in the past when they were still running good in mid-April but we'll see what develops as we finally get into a warming trend.

From my experience the first half of April is peak. March, while good, is not the actual peak.

I plan on going out today 4 ish, and go west but not all the way to the river and see what I can find.
I need to see if the boat even floats, since she has sat for 6 weeks.
