Between work and weather, Sunday was the first opportunity I had to fish this year. Given events of two weeks ago and the fact that LBL is pretty shallow I wasn't expecting to catch much, but I was looking forward to just getting back on the water. It was 68 Degrees, with light rain, a 10mph wind, and muggy as heck when I put in at 6 am from Stephen F. Austin HS. I went up Barton creek all the way to the pool, then hit the main lake, headed into the now 15 mph wind all the way down to I35, fishing the north bank. Water temp (and I'm not 100% sure I trust the temps I got from my Lowrance) was 66 F in the Creek, 58 on the main lake. By the time I finished at 11 am the temp was up to 74 but the wind was too much to make fishing fun.

Overall not a terrible day for late winter after a hard freeze. I caught a monster LBL bass on about my fourth cast, and a total of 18 sunfish of assorted species. Caught the bigger ones on a Bitsy Minnow in about 6 1/2' of water in the creek, near branches and logs in the water. Caught the rest on the main lake in about 12' not far from brush piles on Emerald Green 1" Gulp Minnows on a 1/32 oz Trout Magnet Jig Head. Even if I didn't catch anything, would have been happy to just be on the water.
