Fayette County. 150+ fish days are possible. Just need to get on a few schools. Under 30 on a trip is a total failure. How is navigating the lake? Have never been so was curious if there is anything I should look out for. Rather easy lake to navigate - you shouldn't have any problems...other than the damn birds at the ramps nawing on your windshield wipers.

Grapevine from may through September. 100 plus all day everyday Dang... really? I never knew that. Its true, been called I liar for years about it. Those fish bite predictably in the morning then school over deep water throughout the day. Used to fish with an old school tff'r Mooz(zoom backwards) on here that would always carry a fish counter. Always off the lake early. If you dont believe me ask his son Mike Shultz. Only talking numbers, a limit of overs was lucky. Many spots mixed in.

Fayette has changed a lot. If under 30 is failure then 90%+ are failing. Maybe a full dusk to dawn trip but a 1/2 day not so much. Deep schools are busting up quicker than ever with so many people fishing out there. And the shallow bite has changed a lot with the the cast netters and water fluctuations the last couple of years. Fayette is far from easy now days except for a very small group of very good fisherman and very regular fisherman.

Throw a watermelon red fluke and dip the tail in chart, top water or a swimbait . You'll catch em
You can also punch grass and catch em can you run the lake are there marked boat lanes? best spot to start. Thanks for the advice Yes, you can run the main lake, but would be careful and idle as soon as you turn into any cut. No marked lanes, best place to start is anywhere really....whole place is grass. Just put the trolling motor down.

I fish Fayette more than most and from ramp talk usually do better than most folks. The lake has generally been fishing tougher. I usually fish half days. I've had a couple 60 fish half days in the last year, but to be clear these are all offshore fish in very small spots and generally 2lbers. (occasional 4s, 5s, and 6s mixed in) And you have to know those spots pretty precisely. If you are fishing the lake blind, you could easily wind up with less than 10 fish in a day right now. Unless you want to make circles at the intake/discharge. You can probably grind out 4 fish an hour there all day every day even not knowing what you are doing.

Many spots mixed in. been many years ago but I once caught a bass on 43 consecutive cast at the Vine.they were all under two pounds but you could catch one on every cast. I put my baitcaster down and broke out my crappie rig. had a blast.
