Hey guys, I have a trip planned for the first weekend in March. I've fished this area a couple of times in mid march. We are launching from Hamm, any suggestions on the whites, striper and crappie? I know this weather will be a major curveball.

For me, a lot depends on if water is being released up stream from Grandbury. And the flow rate it's being released at.

They have been in that area for six weeks and are going to be better when water warms a little. I think you will do well

By that time, I would go up river and the sandbass should be hot.

TXninja my friend and I have a trip planned for the week after yours. We set it up around the new moon and have a 3 day camping/fishing trip staying at Plowman Creek. Just finished all the maintenance on the boat to be in prime readiness (impeller, prop, lower unit oil, and fuel filter). We are hopeful to whack em and stack em...keep me posted on how you do if you would be so kind. Either way...tight lines!!

We have a 4 day trip planned on spring break. Thats the week of the 15th. I will be fishing from my kayak my wife will be doing some bank fishing. We are staying at plowman Park too. So, after your trips it would be great if you show off your haul. I plan to target crappie, but would not turn down a chance to fight some sandies.

Well, so much for our 4 night trip to plowman creek. We just received emails that plowman creek park is close due to winter damage.

I was at Hamm this weekend and they had a sign up that said "no overnight camping" so you may check. I think its COVID related

I launched out of Mckown on Saturday and there were people camping throughout the park. Also caught a bunch fish on the flat across from the park. They were stacked along the river channel and on the flat toward Cedron park.

I received those same emails and called recreation.gov and found that the furthest north we could camp on Whitney for our upcoming stay is indeed Mccown valley. So needless to say our upcoming trip we will be running up river if that's where the fish are. Otherwise we will be searching the river channel trying to find those fish.
