Any news on the white bass run in Bend? I used to go there in the 70's back when it was called Lemon's Camp. I could use a day or two of fishing the way it was back then. I intend to do mostly fly fishing...… Any recommendations as to where to go and good flies for that stretch of river and this time of year? I'm retired and am ready to start slaying some freezer fare.

We go every year. I usually end up doing family stuff more than fishing. I'll be there in 2 weeks again. From what I have seen and the small success I have had, most fish are caught near(above and below) the rapids between head quarters and yancey creek. Report back if you go! thumb

I'm going to try to put a canoe in and paddle my way up to Gorman Falls for scenery and to fish along the way. I'm not sure if I'll be able make it all the way up but I'm gonna try.

On this trip I'm planning to dust off my kayak and paddle around. It's hard to believe that less than a week ago I had 6' icicles hanging from my roof and now I'm considering kayaking the Colorado.

The last time I was there was 1978 so I have no clue as to what I'll see when I get there. I'm sure a lot has changed in 43 years. Back then the Bend State Park was privately owned land with mostly dirt roads and no improvements. I'm looking forward to checking out my old stomping grounds. Too bad none of my old friends from back then are still around. It would be cool to do a reunion fishing trip there. But then again cleaning 150 whites between 3 of us after a long weekend of hard fishing was tough. We brought a 35 gallon trash can (it was a brand new galvanized steel can in case your wondering) 1/2 filled with ice to keep the fish waiting on fileting in. We had to poke a hole in the bottom of the can to allow the ice melt to drain to make more room for fish. Ahhhh memories...… That does not even count the memories from the huge fish fry we did the following weekend.

But I digress.... Does anyone have a fishing report to share? Or should I just wait on the water warming up into the 50's or so?

Rumor has it that they are catching some fish in the river.

You can catch fish nearly every cast but not many keepers. Or not many as of last Saturday. The warm weather this week may have helped things out.
White jig head with a white grub tail has been the ticket for us.

Thank you SSC & 1961Yaloo.

Bumblebee48, Thanks I mostly chase lake catfish with it. But this year I intend to chase the whites/stripers on Belton, Bend, and other waters around here.
