Today, we laid my Uncle Billy to rest at the DFW National Cemetery. The Patriot Guard Riders escorted the procession, were pallbearers, and stood as the funeral progressed They also presented my mom with a plaque. I really do appreciate those that participate in this program. I didn't see all of those afterwards to say thank you, but if you were one of them this morning at 11:00 a.m., Thank you. My uncle would have been tickled pink to have people make a fuss over him. He would've truly been honored.

From my family to all who do this for veterans that leave this world, Thank you!

Edit: I don't know if there are any on here, but there were two soldiers that presented my mom with the US flag that had been draped over his coffin. Again, thank you. Taps, the flag presentation, etc did not leave any of us with dry eyes. It helped to make a terrible day much more bearable.

It’s a special group of men who do this.

I used to play taps at the DFW and other area cemeteries for fallen veterans. Definitely can be emotional....

last roll call and flag hand off is definitely the most moving things I've ever experienced.
