Bass Pro is more expensive and has less of a selection .

When it comes to price I don't think they are that much different but when it comes to selection Bass Pro lags way behind and it's not even close.

They have fair prices on some stuff, but a lot of it is marked up. Good spot to demo sonar units though, electronics desk usually has a good selection up to play with and the staff there usually know what they're talking about. BPS has mostly become a tourist venue, but there's still some good things about it.

i have no idea how BPS not only stays in business...but grows!!! Everything there is over priced...and if its anything like Cabelas even sales and clearance arent good deals. Maybe its just the stuff I look at. but smoker, cooking and fishing stuff is always 9.9999 times out of 10 more expensive than other places.

BP/Cabelas has a lot of real estate to pay for. I'm surprised they're as competitive as they are.

Not taking an jabs here, just curious, does TW have retail stores outside CA? I googled but couldn't find any. I was hoping there was one in the surrounding area I wasn't aware of...

I work a block away from BP Grapevine and live only a few miles away from Cabelas.

My purchases depend on urgency. If I want something for the weekend (or just right dang now), I usually stop at BP or Cabelas on the way home. If they don't have what I want, TW gets the order.

My purchases aren't that big so it's not really that big of an impact.

Which makes me ask, how the heck does Johnny pay for housing all those stuffed animals in so many locations?

next time you are in california,go by tackle warehouse and see if they will let you come in and browse through their tackle section....I remember those days before bass pro shop and your only source for tackle was a local bait shop or hardware store and the selection was limited and prices were ridiculously high...

I find both to be expensive. Tackle Warehouse is in California. I prefer Academy Sports or a local place if possible. I enjoy going to Cabela's and Bass Pro but usually buy at Academy. I do buy from Cabela's because I am given gift cards each year.

TW has a good business sales model with affiliate links for promoters. Just need to get them to move to a better state.

Bass Pro was out of ALOT of stuff 2 weeks ago. I went in for a bunch of stuff and came out with almost nothing. Ended up ordering most of it from Tackle Warehouse.

Don't care much for the BPS's I've been to. It's a 2 hour drive to the closest one to me. For specialty stuff I can order from TW but prefer my local shops around
Rayburn, especially Ann's and then Tackle Addict. For line I use the internet and order from a variety of places. WalMart actually gets my best prices on bulk Seaguar InvizX.

I go to bps & it’s always the same, $1-2 more than tw, poor selection. They rarely even have the merchandise they push on the bass pros. I laugh when I see a bps pro “getting what they need” off the shelf. I buy local when I can but it’s difficult.

10XD at tackle warehouse: $12.99 and 23 color choices. 10XD at basspro shop location $16.99 3 color choices. I go to Basspro a couple times a year for the fun of seeing it all in one place. I buy 99% of my fishing tackle online.

Basspro is for the casual fisherman that typically doesn't know any better. I'm talking about the majority of fisherman in the US. That's who basspro goes after. They buy a few things from the entire store. It's an "event" for them. In my opinion, we don't see that from our perspective, guys that shop locally, fish tournaments, etc. If they weren't making money they wouldn't be buying cabela's and building more stores. Plus I think the fishing is just extra at this point. Can't really get rid of it. Their money maker is apparel and other products
