The good thing about this freezing weather is, it is doing a number on the Giant Salvinia. This along with some spring flooding to wash out the dead stuff, we should be able to get to places that we haven’t the past few hrs. Or am I only dreaming.

This cold spell should knock the giant salvinia way back. I don’t think it will knock it completely out. In studies it can survive in temperatures above 3 degrees if the temperatures don’t last for 48 hours straight; and that is in unprotected ponds.

I have a buddy that lives on Lake Bistineau. He pulled a pile of salvinia out from around his dock and boat ramp. It sit there all winter. In the spring it looked like it would make good fertilizer for his garden. He spread it all in the garden. About a week later he had a garden full of growing salvinia. That stuff doesn't die. That's why you should make sure you clean your trailer when you pull your boat out of any lake that has it.

It’s not going anywhere even with this cold snap. It won’t be bad this year but next year will be horrible again. Salvania has been in Caddo a long time and no matter how many cold snaps or floods we have had. It’s still there

Have you figured out how to get it out from between the boat and the bunk boards?
