Easiest access for repair depends on location but sheetrock may need to be removed for camera access.

If you have an outside wall and days of water you need to replace the sheetrock anyway. I would start taking out cabinets and find the leak. Who needs a plumber if you have map gas and some soldier..........famous last words.

The plumber will do the demo but after he fixes the pipe he'll tell you the repair is on someone else. Ok, that’s reasonable I guess I would do the demo work. Just in case he charge by the hour. No need of doing something I can do.

So the insurance will cover all the work (minus deductible) but if I demo something and make it worse it’s on me, that’s the dilemma here. And I’m just not physically able to do heavy work right now, even though I considered it. I did cut a small hole in the wall behind the fridge to see if the busted pipe was accessible without tearing out the cabinets but there’s a 2x4 stud in the way unfortunately

I was at Ace today and the dude in front of me had 4 frostproof faucets and a bag full of other parts. $100+. I was planning on relocating my wh to the garage at the end of the month. Those plans may have to change.

Once line is thawed they can run hydrostatic test and locate the leak almost precisely. . \ Hydrostatic test is worthless and not even possible for a freeze break on a water pipe in the wall

I could see that being an issue I guess. Just know we have hydrostatic tests done for slab leaks all the time.

Hydrostatic is for sanitary pipes, and that is for sewer pipe from the slab down underground, and done usually from the Clean out. Right now the majority of the pipes freeze and bust we are seeing is under a sink for some reason, either a kitchen or bathroom sink and always on an exterior wall I have seen countless water pipe bust in the attic as well.

Bob Davis, here's what a good repair should look like. Turned it on to make sure, that's where the water on the brick is from
