You must not have read the details of the plan you signed up for. The user's guarantee of a minimum (or a low/high usage) is not uncommon. The power retailer can better judge how much power they need to buy (in advance) to meet their customer needs. This helps them not waste by buying watts that weren't needed.

I'm not as bad off as Texas, but three weeks ago I had an extra 8" of insulation blown into my attic. I didn't expect to recoup my investment in a single month! grin

He must be on one of those plans that charges wholesale rates. I read that one company that does that is advising customers to switch. In good times they pay $.05 to $.06. I have been on tiered plans but no way would I get one that charges wholesale rates. Right now I am glad to have a fixed plan. Some of the tiered plans I have been on charged 30% more over 2000 kwh.

We have a static rate plan, and I don't expect it to increase much if any. LOL, there was 0 usage for 10% of the month since it was off. Gas bill----that's another story.
