Besides dipping the rod in the water, is there any way to keep the ice from forming in the rod eyelets when it gets below freezing? Also, which would be less likely to freeze in the reel, braid or flouro?

Don’t go when it’s below freezing. Both will freeze but from what I remember braid sticks to it’s self and gets a lot stiffer trying to come through the eyes.

Yeah, I figured braid would be worse since it pulls in more water.

Leave your micro eye rods at home.

Braid, t-wing level winds, micro eyes, and braid-to-flouro connection knots will all drive you crazy in sub-freezing temps.

Stay home until it is not so cold. That's what I'd do but then again I'm an "old" and retired.

Do not mind fishing in the low 30's upper 20's. Anything below 25 I am inside. Plane and simple. Side Note: The few times my rod eyelets have iced up, I just simply thawed the ice away by placing my gloved fingers over them. Kept fishing until I had to do it again.
