Even if they tried to stop they wouldn’t of been able to. That is a major fail on TXDOT for not closing the roads. Even in the video our car window u can tell how icy it is in that lane

just write everyone involved a ticket for driving too fast for conditions and be done with it, you will never prove who caused it to begin but you can prove who was involved.

I'm guessing all of our lowered insurance rates have just gone back up.

It is terrible!
Be a wait and see how many deaths.
6pm news saying 6 died with 30 plus injured
and over 130 vehicles.

That is why I said earlier that they were not purposely trying to mislead anyone with the numbers they gave in the press update. Some people think these incidents are wrapped up and settled as fast as they are on a 1 hour TV drama.

It appears there is a elevation change in the road there. Probably first ice they hit. It happens in Iowa and Nebraska on 80 in the lower dips of the road. The road can be ice free for 100 miles then boom.

That’s hard to watch I’d have got out and ran for it and hoped I was Fast enough.

There is crest right before the accident scene. They never saw it coming.

Saw a bunch of 18 wheelers on their side and in the ditch from West Odessa to Denton today.

Also saw non CDL and CDL drivers alike driving like @ssholes today.

Choke point going downhill....Perfect storm in a bad way...Really nothing you can do when it goes south like that. No way to suspect what was about to happen when the road you had been traveling up to that point was not anywhere near like that. Seen it happen before but not in a choke point scenario like that.

Yep, right before you hit the low spot and cross the trinty river. Me and KD know about that black ice all to well.
