Hello. I have an aluminum bass boat and I am getting the carpet replaced. An idea was floated suggesting to spray it with bed liner instead of replacing the carpet. I never thought about it or considered. What do you all think?

Hydro turf or one of the comparable brands would be the option I looked at.

How hot do you think the bedliner will be, how much more weight, how is it going to feel on bare feet, probably not going to give you any cushion either - all things that would make me lean away from bedliner.

I have done 2 boats with LineX, Everyone says it adds a lot on weight to the boat that is false. If you weighed the carpet that you put in a boat it would be about the same or more. Here is a couple of pics of the boats I did. I will tell you if I had used carpet it would have been heavier.

My Ranger RB190 has some kind of rubber coating that looks like spay on bedliner. It’s white and heat isn’t an issue. No carpet was one of my requirements when buying a boat in case I took it to the coast. It’s been really durable so far (2 years) I would definitely go with white or another light color. LineX would be my choice after having it on a few truck beds.

The Green Hawk looks really good.

My neighbor had one next door when I was young, I think it was a 1971 model.
Later I had a 82 Champ, very similar and buddy of mine had 84 Metro.

Nice work.

I and my brother both have aluminum, I have been doing some work on his non carpet boat sprayed by the boat builder and kneeling on the deck is awful I can’t imagine doing that in shorts.

I have carpet, would entertain sea deck and would bet he would as well
