I like to think of 10XDs and the like as small, deep diving swim-baits

So, I use a swimbait rod for 1-4oz treble hooked baits and a size 300 reel.

Line is your preference, but I like the sensitivity of braid and the forgiveness of copoly.
So I use 40lb braid to 6ft leader of 12 or 15lb Pline CXX

FXextreme 7ft 8 inch rod with a Lews Super Duty wide spool 5-1 gear ratio, 20 pound PLine CXX or 20 pound Invizx
That rod handles a 10 XD just fine.

LOL you must have some of the FXtreme rods. I bought one for skipping docks and liked them so much now I have 12 of them.

Dobyns 806CB, Curado K 5.0, 10 lb Seaguar invizx. It's a good set up for slow deep cranking.

I have the St. Croix Legend Glass 7'11" Moderate Heavy paired with a Curado K 200. It is an excellent setup for the 8XD-10XD, BUT I do not like how where the trigger is positioned or that its pointed downward. I can overlook that though because the action of the rod is pretty much perfect.

I’ve always liked the Dobyns 806 swimbait rod for 10xds. It’s also a great a-rig rod as well as swimbaits.
