Saturday morning, picked up one of my old army buddies at his house to take him fishing on Belton. Got down to Arrowhead Park, he got in the boat and I backed the boat down the ramp and off of the trailer, just as the boat came off of the trailer what I was unaware of was So did my trailer tire on the drivers side (I only have 2 tires total) I pull forward about 10 Ft and something isn't right. Look back and the hub is on the ground, tire is floating 5 Ft off shore. A man saw all this and walks over his name is Terry Haddock, he is walking 2 very big dogs. Starts telling me what happened, the hub locked up and walked the nut off the spindle, he said it mostly happens on the left side. I look at him and say what do I do now? I have no Idea how to fix this. We find the nut and pretty much all of the parts, the traces and bearing are ruined. Nut and threads are perfect. He looks at me and says. I have to walk 45 minutes back to where I started with these dogs. Why don't you pull the trailer slowly up to the shoulder and just go fishing. That he is a mechanic and will have it fixed when we get back. He had to go to several different places to find the right part. When we got back it was all fixed. this was 3 hours in total. He even tried to refuse payment which I couldn't abide. I told him he was a miracle, and over and over how I appreciated. Most people just aren't like this now a days. If anyone runs into this guy needs to buy him a beer!!!

Have you looked under your truck to see if the catalytic converter is still there?

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Bravo to the gentleman for helping.

I learned the hard way to always carry 2 sets of bearings, a Hub kit and the tools to change them out.

2 years ago I saw a gentleman headed up the ramp with his trailer tire wobbling after loading his boat. I got him stopped and told him his bearing was going out and I had the parts to change it if he wanted to. I got a mind your own business response and that I am just going a mile down the road to the house, guy was very put out and rude that I said something. I apologized for intruding and watched his tire wobbling 4-5 inches as he topped the hill. I loaded my boat and headed to the house. I top the hill and guess who is in the ditch minus a wheel (he may have made it 300 total yards)? This guy is now flagging me down for help. I stop and he says to me " Hey man I need you get those bearing out and install them." I let him know I am "Minding my own business now" and drove off. I felt bad for a bit.

Its good to be nice to the folks that offer assistance, thank you sir for calling out the good deed..
