I went to Rayburn on Tuesday. Wow I had forgotten how big that lake is; since it had been over 25 /30 or 35 years since my last trip there. Life, kids, and stuff kept me close to the house. I launched at Cassel Boykin park. Such a nice ramp. AND Parking was great>! I headed out to some areas that I remember but so much had changed. I used my hummingbird maps to move around Wondered if there is a 'trail map' chip for Rayburn? . Been so long since I have seen Grass!!! First stop was a small drain that i remembered I caught two on a Trap; that was it for the day. I rode around into coves and searched with my Humminbird. It was a great day. little or no wind. I plan on going back next week and do some more riding and looking. Can not figure how in the world I fished that lake with out A GPS unit 25/30 years ago. Then I would use the timber to mark my trails. I live in Flint and it is a straight road to Ramp from my home. Guess I will be going to Rayburn more Just like I did 25/ 30 or more years ago.

30-35 years ago, you could see the timber and trails. Now, that wood is just under the surface.

Back in the day my friend had a 17'9" Ranger with a 140 Johnson. We thought that was a big boat, plenty to get around on Rayburn in rough conditions. I guess I just got old and scared...or smarter.

South wind most ramps should be ok, maybe Caney would be the exception.

Needs a bunch of East in it to effect Caney.

Hanks Creek is not a good choice with a South wind!

Due south is about the best overall wind to launch at on Rayburn. Very few ramps with the exception of Rayburn park are directly affected
