I just moved to Denton. Trying to find some local ponds to take my 14 year old son fishing? Any Advice would help. We tried South lakes out yesterday trying to catch some trout but no luck. We tried night crawlers. Thanks in advance.

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โ€œI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโ€™s a storybook, man.โ€

\Yes, it is public fishing the ponds and even hunting is allowed in there. They do have a gate you have to walk around. They no longer allow you to drive back there.

We are about to move up to that area in about 6 months or so and I saw those ponds on google earth and was wondering if they were public myself. Is that Providence lake public or only for people who live there?

I believe it is Corp property or city. Not sure. It is posted at the gate, but I know it is public. It is not part of the communities or HOA.

I hear ya. I have twin boys, 10 years old. They got snagged a few times, but in all had a good time. I hooked them up with Gulp minnows so they could hook up with bass, crappie and bluegill. When they got bored, they went exploring and I fished for catfish with my rods in the rod holders. Shad were easy to catch in a cast net. 2 throws and you had plenty. Boys enjoyed picking up the shad for me and enjoyed reeling in the catfish. There are also some drum/gaspergoo in the ponds. Caught a few small ones on the gulp minnows and cut shad.

Excellent thanks for the heads up.
This cold front has put a halt to everything.

The area north of 380 is leased from the Corps of Engineers to the City of Denton. You have to get a permit from them to hunt the area.

I feel like the creeks where bank access is available is often overfished. You can try the ponds over at North Lakes. I know they stock them with channel cats and probably others.
