My screws stripped out last time on the lake and my graph was bouncing up and down in the hole. I thought I could just put some anchors in the holes and tighten her back down but I can’t find anchors small enough and I’m afraid if I drill the hole out bigger the corner of the fiberglass will break and then I’m really F’d.

Any ideas?

Here’s a pic of one of the corners so you can see what I’m dealing with:

Use a slightly bigger screw.

One might just epoxy a piece of marine plywood underneath the corners.

Thought about this but was afraid of the same issue with the anchor and it breaking off.

Get some JB Weld, epoxy, and fill it and let it set.

After it sets you can re-drill a little smaller and it will hold.

Done it a couple times for the same exact situation.

If you really want to get fancy then Precision Sonar offers a hardware set called a big water fastener package in which you insert expandable nuts in the existing screw holes. The expandable nuts are threaded for machine screws which you can take in and out without wearing out the fiberglass.

Hook’em,

Make sure they include the drill bit so you can drill the correct size pilot hole.

I used the hardware for my console and bow and have had zero issues.

I glued some backers behind mine on my main console, basically a cutting board cut up, use two part epoxy and c clamp to secure it till it dries.

What size drill bit is it you think? The more I think about this idea the more I get concerned with making the holes larger and breaking the corners off.

Should that be a concern?

I called them JB, it's about a 1/4" drill bit so I don't think this is an option as I don't have that much room.

Take a 1/4" bit and set it on the screw hole now. If it looks to tight then go with option one, fill it with JB Weld, or do as Jeff said above, and go that route.

Yours are the actual mounting holes that match up to the thru-holes from the graph (as I'm now noticing), mine matched up to the thru-holes from the aluminum plate so I had a little more room.

Safe bet is to fill the holes and re-drill or back them as Jeff said.
