How much are you looking to spend?

Are you wanting a spining reel or baitcaster.

For $100 just go to Academy and pick a combo. Lews, 13Fishing, Abu Garcia it doesn't matter. They are all pretty much the same quality.

For an all around combo, look for a medium heavy rod and a 7:1 ratio reel.

I would recommend a couple of reels in the $100 range.
Abu Garcia Revo X or Shimano SLX.
That puts you at the top of the price range with no rod.

I have a med/heavy 7' rod I will give you.

Yep, Sports Academy, and consider the H20 XPress series.
You'll have some $ left for some lures.

I’d spend $150 and get a Falcon Lowrider “All-round F” and a cheap reel. Then save for a Lews Reel.

Second that offer. If your close to Ellis Co, I have about 50 spares that I don’t use. Rods and reels. Come get a couple.

Awe that’s nice thanks for the offers. I am going to academy to look at combos. I am not very tall so I was not sure how long of a rod I should look for.

Thanks I’ll try that. Do you drag them along the bottom or work the rod more?

You can swim it or let it hit the bottom. They usually hit it on the fall or while you are reeling it in.
