Problem is we don't know who owns these VPN services. What's their agenda? More big tech. I'd probably set up my own server if I felt like I needed a VPN. I don't worry as much about the VPN company, but I could see ISP's banning them from their networks.

I've worked from home for several years now and always connect to the company intranet via a VPN, as I would suspect most others do as well. Not sure why an ISP would try and ban them from their network as they wold be alienating many of their customers.

It's very necessary when pirating video on the Amazon Firestick.

ip vanish is what I use. With the amount of big corporations that use them, I don’t think they are going anywhere.

Problem is we don't know who owns these VPN services. What's their agenda? More big tech. I'd probably set up my own server if I felt like I needed a VPN. I don't worry as much about the VPN company, but I could see ISP's banning them from their networks. Most corporations of any size that allow remote access use VPNs to protect the corporate network. With the cats out of the bag and no way to get them back into cubicles, I don’t see VPN’s going away anytime soon. Even if most did go back into the office, the use case for remote teams and consultants to connect to the mothership is still in place because not everything in the corporate world is 100 percent cloud based. If you’re an individual looking at VPN’s for the sake of privacy or security, don’t use a free one. Mullvad is currently a favored VPN for the privacy and security crowd. They accept crypto with anonymous accounts signup so even if they did log, it wouldn’t necessarily be easy to trace back to you. Some food for thought, if you’re only considering a VPN for internet privacy or security reasons, don’t depend on just a VPN to protect your privacy. Professionally I help organizations and usually high net-worth individuals address privacy and security needs. You rarely need to be 100 percent invisible but when you do, it’s a difficult task to achieve. Often I help meet specific needs by setting up Qubes OS on non trackable hardware and teaching clients how to use it. For the DIY crowd, all the data you need is available online to configure.
