Wow! What a difference a year makes! Well, kinda. What happened at Lake Palestine, Texas on January 30, 2021 is nothing short of incredible. On that day, Daniel Ramsey of Trinidad, Texas did something nobody could ever have imagined.
Mr. Ramsey is a regular competitor in Media Bass tournaments and has the attitude and character any/all anglers strive for. But, call it "Luck", "Fate", "Destiny", "Chance", or whatever, he did the astronomical.
Last year Mr. Ramsey caught a bass in the Media Bass (Annual) Individuals Tournament at Lake Palestine on January 25, 2020 that weighed 12.65 lbs. The fish helped him to victory that day and like all the other bass, that bass was released from the Lake Palestine Resort weigh in site. That weigh in site is about four nautical miles from where Daniel caught the lunker that day.
Now, on January 30, 2021 in the Media Bass (Annual) Individuals Tournament, Mr. Ramsey started the tournament day on that same spot from the previous year. And, he caught that same bass, again. The bass now weighed 13.07 lbs. and was invited to be a part of the Texas Lone Star Lunker Program in Athens, Texas. There in Athens, she will get the opportunity to reproduce and offer her offspring to the Texas Parks And Wildlife Dept. stocking of Texas lakes. Yes, Mr. Ramsey won this years event as well. Nice guys do finish first!

Def a cool story but how did he know it was the same fish? I have not read that part yet.

I'm usually skeptical on the same fish deal, but this one looks extremely close to the same fish. I would say it is the same.

I’d like to believe it’s the same fish and it very well may be, it makes for a very cool story, but I also believe that a specific spot that attracts a very big bass is a spot that any big bass would like to claim as their own. With that being said, the dominant fish it seems would rule the spot and I’m willing to bet there were not very many other 13#’rs challenging her.

I don’t know if I’m catching the same fish or not but I know this time of year I can expect to catch a double at the same areas I’ve caught them before on the Ribbit .

Very cool story. I am also interested to know if they confirmed it was the same fish thru DNA fin clippings each time or if they are just speculating. Either way it is Greatness to have caught a fish that size at any time much less in a tourney!

John Hope talked about big Bass living in the same place, pretty much year around. He would catch one of his lunkers, take it back to the marina to weigh, measure & whatever else he did to em. John would release them at the marina, I think LFM. The fish would swim back to the same spot within a month of being released.
We was fishing a Honey Hole team Tournament on Bob Sandlin back in the 90's. my old Tournament partner Kieth Knight caught a 9lb, we released her at Barefoot. 2 weeks later I was fishing the the same spot (we called it Monticello cove) & I caught the exact same fish. It had one of those Black spots between the dorsal fin & her tail.
