Been following but medical issue has kept me out of the yard last 2 months. My yard and flowerbeds are full of weeds. I guess it's too late for preemergent so what should I be doing now? Thanks.

Put down some preemergent now if you are able
The weeds you see now would have been prevented by a September preemergent application.
The pre emergent you put down now will prevent Spring and Summer weeds.
Pre emergent should be put down three times a year.

I was planning to put down pre emergent this weekend. Should I re-think that because of the upcoming freezing temps for the next 10 days? I don't think I want to turn on the sprinklers to water it in.

You're good to wait. A lot of the spring/summer weeds need around 55deg soil temp to germinate. If they haven't yet they won't be anytime in the next week to 10 days at least.

Current soil temp is 43

Put it out tomorrow when temps get above freezing. Tomorrow night, run your sprinkling system like the city wonโ€™t charge you...a good 4 or 5 hour soak....each station. Take and post pics. thumb

Yes. Active ingredient of dimension is dithiopyr. There are a few different brands. Sta Green and Sunniland make one carried by Loweโ€™s. Same with Halts. Itโ€™s Pendimethalin sold under different trade names. Just look at the label before you buy. Of the two Iโ€™d go dithiopyr.

Yeah it is. Dimension is labeled for Sandburs. But all the grassy Pre-Em's will do a good job if you stay religious on those apps. Image is actually a good post app product for Sandburs. Even though it's hose end. It needs to be watered in. It's root absorbed. So time it prior to high rain chances if you don't have irrigation.

Well I put out the last of my Lescos pre emergent last night and hoping it will kill the future of those pesky weeds. I also bought some Celsius to putout when the soil temp comes up.

Celsius is probably my favorite. My pre emergents do a good job and I don't have a need to blanket spray, so I can make a mix and use it to spot spray with. If you have high weed pressure and need to blanket spray please read the label. There is a max amount per year you can apply. I like to measure using grams. You can get a good gram scale on Amazon for like $10. Add nitrogen and a non ionic surfactant to your mix. A cheap nitrogen would be DEF(diesel exhaust fluid) it's pure Urea. My gallon spot spray mix would be this. 3.2grams of Celsius, 24oz DEF, surfactant(whatever the label rec is per gallon) spray dye, topped of with water to make a gallon. Celsius is not the fastest working herbicides but works really well. It might take a couple weeks depending on temps for you to notice it working, but give it time. It also does not have temperature restrictions so you can spot spray when it's 100 out and not damage your turf. The hotter it is out the faster it works. Again please read the label. These higher end herbicides are not something to toy around with.

Thanks Derek. I will be placing the Celsius into a 14 gallon sprayer (if u have the formula for that) that will be attached to my ATV. Don't have a boom for it, just a hand wand. ill be spraying about an acre and half total.

I would do a lot of test spraying first with just water. If you're wanting to blanket spray I would mark off 14k sq feet. Fill your tank with 14gal of water. Make your passes keeping you wand about 20" above the ground. Once you've made all your passes see where your water level it if not empty. I use a backpack sprayer. I have it down with my walking speed and tip to apply right at 1 gallon per 1000sq feet. So you may need to drive slower or faster depending on how much water you have left. It took me about 10-15 gallons of just spraying water and testing tips to get my method down. If you're wanting to spot spay you could try 5 gallons of water and go around and do a test spot spray and see what water is left. Once you have your method down we can calculate your app rate.

I tried 4 or 5 different tips. This is the one I liked the best and use.

Once you get it down you'll be able to spray your pre-emergents at a fraction of the cost vs granular.
