What are realistic expectations on numbers and size ? Decent electronics and fishing knowledge.

Thank you sir! Got loads of GP senkos...but need to stock up on some green weenies and watermelon reds for sure! I need to shoot you a PM here in a few too!

Im expecting to catch a few 10s! I got birds with mega like the pros...and if Denny Bauer is pulling out 10s from what I hear, i GOTTA be able to do it roflmao

If I catch a couple or few 6s Ill be happy. A 7 or anything bigger would be really good...especially if its on tourney day!!! First timer tho...so its as much a trip as it is a fishing trip. I figure ill use up a lot of gas in the boat hopping around. i usually dont like to stay in a place too long if im not getting bit! I do hear people still pull out bigs semi regularly from what I read....so its good to know theyre out there. Maybe ill have some beginners luck and catch a PB 🤷‍♂️

Why? That lake is safer on the Mexico side than being in downtown Dallas at night.

Starting to look more official....I gonna leave El Paso the Thursday before the border bass battle. Gonna fish hard, weather permitting (fun fish, and not Pre-fish style) that Friday through to the next friday. If I feel like I know the lake enough after that week, Im gonna do the Border Bass Battle....im about 75/25 that Im gonna do it....even a broken clocks right twice a day, so I might get right at the right time with a fattie LOL

I hope I run into him for a fist bump or a quick hello! Dudes a legend and I hear had a lot to do with lots of bait designs going from way back when. Fingers crossed.

Alright...trying to get my "amistad tackle" sorted and ordered right now....and i need some help. Didnt pull the trigger on the jigging raps....because I know for the time of year it'll be impossible for me to talk myself into fishing the jiggin rap deep. Lakes too big, and too new for me to commit to that...I know my impatient self will be wanting to move around and explore! LOL Been watching some videos and it does look like a beautiful lake!

Here's my first order...planning to overnight some stuff from TW if needed after the first couple days...but I hope this can get me through and get me some good bites. I think you can catch the vibe of what Im planning to throw out there looking at it. Gonna paint up a bunch of cranks for the trip, and I have a good amount of soft plastics and bobber stops for the grass....BUT....most all my tungsten t rig weights are 1/4 or less since thats my go tos. What weight do you all recommend for fishing the grass at Amistad? Ive heard recommendations all over the place. Am I good with 1/2....or do i need the 1 to 1/12 oz weights to get through mats? Hoping to order about 10-15 weights total...how would you all break that down? Hopefully Im not asking for the juice too much....but this is literally the first time ive ever even seen hydrilla. So i got no idea what I need to get the bait in the zone.
