My daughter and family have rented a house in Galveston for mid March. My 14 year old grandson loves to fish and I would like some info: on guides in the Galveston area. I don't know anything about saltwater fishing, but have fished freshwater all my life. I don't really care about what we catch, I just want him to catch as many fish as possible on the trip. Most of what we catch will be released for another day, just want enough to feed 6 folks dinner . Thanks for your help.

Check out Glen Stevens on West Bay. His website is here: http://www.fishcoastal.com/If his prices are a bit steep, you can do a party boat to the jetties for something like $60/person. The difference is that Glen is going to work to put you on fish. Mid march might get into some nice sheepshead and black drum, definitely great eating fish. Good luck man, and post pics!

Starting soon, big Blk Drum will be migrating and will be a great time for you and the kids to catch a huge fish. The slot limit on those are 14''-30'' and some are bigger than that. CPR those. Redfish will also be out there. 20''-28'' slot. It will still be cool outside and may want to bring a rain coat. TPWD will not be printing the yearly pamphlet on rules and regs....only online info now. These mentioned fish will require a heavy rod/reel setup. Big Cat rigs...Where in G-town did you rent? Go online and do some research on saltwater fishing in TEXAS. You will get a good idea on what to bring as far as tackle and what fish will be out and about. Will you be fishing from piers, rock groins, or the surf etc? Most bottom fishing I do...I use a Carolina rigged setup... Blk Drum like cracked crab for bait....Reds like fresh cut bait. Flounder like finger mullet, mud minnows, and of course bright colored soft plastics. Single or tandem rigged. I like to use the Berkley GULP imitation shrimp 3'' NEW PENNY w/ Chart. tail 1/8th-1/4'' jig heads. Sea Wolf Park is a great place to fish..located on Galveston Channel..Tx City Dike on the east end is another good place and i will guarantee you'll catch a big fish or two or three. San Luis Pass bridge area can be a very dangerous place to fish....especially for waders. Good Luck Be Safe I'm sure others will chime in here and give ya'll some more pointers. www.texas-city-tx.org/page/rec.dike

Thanks, guys. I plan to contact a couple of guides and listen to what they have to say. The house that is rented is on a canal just over the bridge and he will be able to fish from the boat dock also. Monday the 15th is the only day that I will be able to get him in a guide boat so I'm hoping for good weather for at least a few hours.

My son lives in Alvin, TX. He has a small business making soft plastic baits. He also has a website that can take the guesswork out of fishing the Texas Gulf. He and a group of guys that fish ALL the time have compiled all their information on one website. https://www.bfavipclub.com/Check it out and tell him his Pops sent you! JR

![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/02/full-5848-83738-3ac710b5_f320_43d3_ba26_53aff26068c6.jpeg) My son, Justin, owner of Bite and Fight Angler, sent me this photo today. All but one of these fish were caught on the baits he makes. He told me that he, himself, threw back six more fish. He fishes several times a week, and he can show you how and where to catch fish, too. Tell him his Pops sent you! JR
