It's been a few years since I fished that loop. My best trips were spring and fall when the river was low, slow, and relatively clean. When the flow got down below 1000CFS and there was no rain for a few weeks, I would go. I've caught some nice spotted bass there on shad imitation lures. Rocks in the river are where you can usually find fish. Small pan fish and bass may be caught in Cummins creek on light tackle and small lures. Just down stream from the mouth of the creek can be good at times. There used to be a rock pile just upstream from the 1-10 bridge. The closer you get to Longhorn dam in Austin the more rocks you will find, better water quality, and usually better fishing.
