Anyone ever take a flat bottom from the dam put in? I’ve got a G3 with a 60hp that’ll float in about 6”. Never done it before but in for a little adventure. Curious what the CFS would need to be to not ruin the rig. Mid March timeframe. Thanks for the help.

I have canoed and kayaked the Brazos over the last 30 years. With the regular low flows canoes have to drag through the shallows.

Cannot launch at the dam. If you launch at the bridge, you can go up to the dam but there is a physical barrier in the river ( a metal pipe) to prevent you from going up. You will either have to drag your boar over or portage around it. Plus, once you get to the dam, most of the pool there is beyond the warning cable. The river is shallow so wear waders because you will be dragging you boat a lot.

No way what so ever to launch a boat with a 60 up motor below dam or at bridge. Anything you use has to be carried from the highway. Can’t pull down to waters edge.
Retirement best job ever.

We used to put our 14ft flat bottom with a 5hp jet motor at the dam ever Memorial day. We had several places that we had to pull the boat through the shallows. We would fish all day long. We would take 2 1/2 days to reach Rochel's. If I wasn't so old I would still be doing that trip!

That’s what I meant, launch at the bridge and float down fishing along the way.

Man...Rochelles. We used to have some awesome canoe/parties floating that stretch 35 years ago. Rent the canoes and take the truck from Rochelles up to the drop off for half a day float back to Rochelle's. Or go another 4 hours down river and let em come get you. Good times!
