Hello,

I am in the area and free on December 8th. I would be interested in cast netting a good batch of tilapia for my family.

Do I have a good shot anywhere going by foot, or do I need a boat? I am in the area from Louisiana for a day so I do not have my own boat available. Happy to trade fresh shrimp if someone can give me a boat ride, also.

Planning to follow all rules/etc.

Thanks for your help.

Lake Fairfield has 'em! I think that's the closest, I've heard of them in Lake Houston as well but I don't think they're as common.

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

Late reply I know, but Bens Branch, a tributary of Lake Houston in Kingwood is FULL of tilapia. State record was caught there several years ago. Got this one and many others on small worms in December [Linked Image]
