What is the deal with the price of air filters? Time was a regular filter cost a buck and you could get something really fancy for $5. I just donโt understand how they how they can charge $25+ for a sheet of felt paper.

Agree. Cost of air filters have boomed. Recently I purchased some "cheaper ones" through Amazon. I don't know what measuring system the manufacture uses, but the 20X25X4 filters I bought, were more like 18 1/2X24X3. Back to the overprices ones I guess

Sign up for Home Depots Deal of The Day email. They do filters pretty often. I buy a years worth when they run the special. Avg price is $5-6 a filter and free shipping.

Back to the overprices ones I guess we must have ordered from the same co. they did the same to me on same size and again on 16x24. home depot has been decent on the filtrete brand, I have 4 of the 20x24 and 2 16x24 twice a yr.

I use the gold framed washable filters. Have 3 buddies in the HVAC business and they tell me not to use them. Said they are more restrictive?

I buy online as well and my filters are still $120 each. I have a Lennox system with 20 x 26 x 5 filter. Stupid price.

I bought washable electrostatic aluminum filters. Can't tell if they filter anything but saves me money. amazon filter

Surprised no one mentioned Ace Hardware. I usually change filters every 3 months or so.
Ace sends me coupons for $7 off a $20 purchase.
I usually buy 6 or 8 when I go there and running low.
