I'd buy a Nitro. Never understood folks spending $70k+ on a freaking boat. I believe most fishermen wouldn't catch one less fish out of a similarly equipped Nitro than they would out of boats that cost $20k+ more.
JMHO - worth what you paid for it. But don't throw away money on nothing - that's my advice.

Actually, the first question is "How deep is your bank account?"
Bigger, nicer, fancier boats cost more, a lot more.
Would he be in the mood for a 21 footer or an 18 footer?
250 HP or 115 HP, or less?
Tournaments or not?
Big lakes, little lakes?
These are more important questions than the brand. All the major manufacturers make a good boat. Some are a little better than others, but all are acceptable, depending on your needs and the size of your wallet.

For me it would be a Charger 210 easily. For your dad, I say put him in a Ranger. As much as people talk [censored] (myself included) on other boat brands, if you buy a brand new boat these days you're gonna get good quality and since he is already a Ranger guy I say just keep him in a Ranger.

Well since I just purchases a new Bullet 21XRS a short while ago, I'll go with a Bullet 21XRS... I was torn between that and an Allison... So if I bought 2 new boats it be an Allison and a Bullet... First world problems... Dan Ps... Tell your Dad to get a Ranger, it's the only boat he'll be happy with...

I finally bought a used Ranger Z521C after I retired several years ago. Best decision I've made in boats.

If you want a Ranger with a SHO you'd have to find it used or custom order an "L" series. I love my 2020 Z521 with the Merc 4 stroke.

If I was going to buy a new boat tomorrow, I would go to Fun and Sun or the boats for sale here and buy the nicest one to two year old boat that fit my parameters and that I could pay cash for. I will be doing this next year at this time, until then my 92 Javelin 389T continues to get the job done!
See you on the lake and have a great day!
