1. Troll motor with spot lock - game changer if you never had it and fish offshore more than shallow. However I now can work a bank in the wind and spot lock on a spot/dock/shallow structure like creek bend etc. so I am debating adding poles and will decide after this spring. Also, get the longest shaft the boat will allow.
2. Electronics
3. Poles or if you need new carpet, on board charger or other such boat maintenance/upgrades do that 3 rd and then the poles.

As for radio go get one or two of the JBL extreme 2 blue tooth speakers. Use mounts that let you remove like fire extinguisher type clamp or industrial Velcro to be able to use in other situations. Play music and other audio off phone, can use as speaker phone, and most radio stations stream on the internet.

Just ordered a brand new boat and for the first time I will not have power poles. I just can't justify the cost for power poles with spot lock trolling motors anymore. I'd much rather have spot lock and live scope.

If trolling motor first know that the ultrex is loud so I would go with the Lowrance Ghost. Have had both and the Ghost is hands down the winner.

First thing is make sure you have good wiring. These new electronics and trolling motors require adequate and consistent voltage.

Installing Ultrex now, while I have things somewhat opened up, I am pulling new wires to the bow. My forearms are chewed up. The first Helix I installed only lasted about 1.5 years because I just tied power to the trim switch in the front. Lesson Learned.

Most definitely very first thing should be new Ultrex. Then graphs. I would take power poles off your list. If you ask folks, 90% of them say they do not use them except when beaching their boat.

I’ve been using my shallow anchors a lot the last few weekends. It’s hard to fish docks effectively in the wind with just an Ultrex.

Tylenol, toilet paper and a one gallon bucket to hold your anchor and or well go back to the TP. lol seriously now the Ultrex would be number one plus a ladder for safety.

one of the handiest and most useful things i've added to my boats over the years is an anchor rein.....mount it as close as possible to front of boat with a large brass snap....when you are launching the boat by yourself, unhook your winch and attach the brass snap to your winch stand, back in and let the boat float off while the anchor rein pays out rope.....pull up enough to where you don't get your feet wet and ,grab the rope, pull your boat to the bank or dock, tie it off while you park your truck....when through, the rope will retract back into the anchor rein where it stays until you need to use it again to launch or tie your boat off...those things come with about 50 ft of line and the beauty of it is,you don't have to untangle a rope every time you need to launch or tie your boat off........

My Opinion:

1. TM with spot lock
2. Graphs 1-12" with SI/DI/2D at console 1-10-12" up front
3. Poles if you sight fish and like shallow fishing. If you dont like those things then put everything else you want to do in front of poles.
4. Trailer steps.

The best thing about the poles IMO is being able to pull my boat right up to boat ramps and drop the poles while I get the truck. I fish alone allot and this helps me so much.

Not to repeat everyone but the TM w/ spot lock pays dividends like you wouldn't believe. Not only boat positioning but the wear and tear of retying, landing a fish, etc. while trying to keep your boat off the rocks or out of the trees. Especially if you fish big water ( Falcon,Choke, Amistad ) alone. With a Champ of that vintage I would suggest you preplan for your 4 battery layout. Sold my 191 to my fishing partner, he was able to add a 36V Ultrex, keep the batteries in the rear compartment and did a really nice job.. His upgraded to a 202 and last I checked he ended up with a battery in the port rod box. Great boats, they just didn't see the new technology coming.
