Lottery: Poor man's tax on people bad at math. Absolutely 100% correct. Yet I do occasionally buy a ticket and here's why: I like the daydream. I view the $2 ticket price as a payment. My return for that payment is the chance to sit back and dream on what it would be like to have a half billion dollar windfall. My offer above still stands, and it is definitely a better financial investment than buying a ticket. But I do enjoy the daydream.
