Okay. The new Transducer did not fix the problem of my left side imaging fading . In fact now i have lost both sides of side imaging on all frequencies. I read there is an update. Do you think this will fix the problem? or am i going to have to send it to HB Helix 12 MEGA SI Chirp gps. Linked with a Helix 7 CHIRP gps. BOTH Gn2 Do you think that linking the new Helix 7 has caused the helix 12 to lose my side imaging? Down, 2d and gps still work great. Thank you

I finally talked tech support and since i have never updated my software they told me that the update should fix the side imaging problem. We will see

My Helix 10 did the same thing on the left side and Humminbird support repaired the circuit board.

My Helix 10 did the same thing on the left side and Humminbird support repaired the circuit board. Thanks for the info randfish. Well after new transducer, software update they finally told me to send it in. So at least it will be fixed. Here are pics of all three frequencies after the software update. My sensitivity was at 10. But i was n the marina and usually i see all the poles around the boat slips and docks. I turned the sensitivity up to 20 and still nothing.

What Transducers will work with a Helix 9 G2 Chirp unit?
I have a Helix 7DI GN2 XNT 9 DI transducer. Will it work on a Helix9 GN2 Chirp unit?
Thanks for the help.

It will work but you will only get 2d since your helix 9 is a sonar/gps unit

cliffshot A CHIRP unit has 2D sonar ONLY, you can't add Down Imaging to it by connecting a Down Imaging transducer. The standard 2D frequency for the Helix 7 CHIRP DI GPS G2N is 200/455 kHz, that is the 2D piezo in the DI transducer. The standard 2D frequency for the Helix 9 CHIRP GPS G2N is 83/200 kHz.

Good morning Wayne,
Bought a used boat last week with a Gen2 Helix 9 chirp SI/GPS at the console, and a Gen 2 Helix 10x chirp DI/GPS on the bow. Transducer on the back of hull has a crack in it and not working properly. (Won't read bottom consistently) Probably going to upgrade to a 12" unit eventually at the console. What transducer will work with my current Gen 2's and also match up with a newer gen4 units like a Solix, etc? Thanks!

None unless you want to get a Helix gen2 transducer and dumb down a new unit to the Helix G2N level. Helix third and forth generation units have HW CHIRP as standard for 2D sonar. SOLIX second and third generation units have HW CHIRP as standard for 2D sonar. Older units have 83/200 kHz as standard for 2D sonar. There is no gen4 SOLIX, the gen 3's are just coming out. A SOLIX unit has a 14-pin transducer connection. A Helix unit has a 7-pin transducer connection. They are not interchangeable. You can adapt a SOLIX transducer to work with a Helix by using the Minnkota built-in transducer adapter MKR-MI-1.

I guess for the moment I'll just get the Gen2 transducer. What model transducer would that be? Best place and price to buy? Thanks Wayne! You're always a great resource!!

This is the G2N MEGA SI transducer. Do a web search for that model. Since it is discontinued, you will see a wide range of prices. https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors....ransom-helix-mega-si-mega-di-transducer.

One last question. Does the G2N Mega SI also do down imaging? Thanks!

One last question. Does the G2N Mega SI also do down imaging? Thanks! That would be a Helix 9, Helix 10, or Helix 12 to be G2N and have MEGA SI. Yes those SI units have dedicated Down Imaging from a Down Imaging piezo in the SI transducer.
