Yea right, bless your hearts.

If 1/2 the country gets one, the rest of us won't.

Bad virus go bye bye.
That's awesome.

I'm happy that you are happy that you got a vaccine! Awesome!

It’s not just people not requesting the vaccine, it’s Cuomo’s restrictions and draconian fines on hospitals that are causing it. Hospitals have to use their weekly allotment of vaccines or they get fined $100,000 and might not get another allocation of vaccinations the next week. If they vaccinate someone out of order (meaning, if the state is in phase 1a of the plan, and a hospital vaccinates someone in phase 1b) he will fine the hospital $1,000,000.

So, this type of stupid rollout results in providers potentially having to waste vaccines if people don’t show up. A waiting list system, where if someone no-shows for their appointment and the provider calls someone outside of the current phase who can get there before the vaccine expires after being thawed, would be a much better system. But Cuomo has a tough guy image to uphold and an Emmy on the line, so he’d rather just fine and penalize hospitals for not using their allocations or using them on the wrong people (in his opinion) instead of actually laying out a plan.

Just got home from Hainesville and checked my emails from today. Got one From Texas Health Resources telling me that they are getting the distribution of the wonderful vaccine ready.

Then I read the FAQ's from the FDA and CDS included and I read this:

Why would they say this? What is the reason for the shot if you still have to wear a mask, don't get close to anyone outside your home, maintain 6 feet, wash and scrub your hands many times?

Why get the shot?

You can continue to carry and spread the virus even if you have immunity to it.
Why get the shot—-significantly reduces your chance of severe symptoms if you come into contact with the virus enabling you to enjoy a productive life. The more people vaccinated , the more group immunity, the faster we return to more normalsy. Many cities are on the brink of medical facility capacity—increases wait times for critical care, which increases morbidity and mortality for critically injured or critically ill people. Increases wait times for medical procedures—hip replacements, knee replacements, basically all non emergency hospital procedures get put on hold.

It takes the two weeks plus another 15 days before you can be 95% immune from what they say.
Right now nobody is there yet and as a percentage they won't reach even 25% of the population till probably March or April.

Its way to early to get freaked out by having to continue to wear a mask and practice safe distancing and cleaning.

When you go out and someone sees you with no mask, they don't know if you've been immunized or not. Until the numbers start going way down I would continue to wear a mask just to reinforce good health practice.

This morning I read where Israel is going to be 100% vaccinated by the end of March.

How did this happen? Half the Pfizer vaccine is manufactured in the US and we are not going to have enough doses for us until this the end of the year.

Isn’t Israel’s population about the same as New York City? I would think that if the U.S. were sending all the vaccines to NYC they could have everyone there vaccinated by the end of March.

Didn't we all read that the US would get the firsts 100 million doses?
Now, reality is that its shipping all around the world and we still have not seen 100 million doses. Is that right or have I understood it wrong.

And if Isreal is only 10 million, how did they get promises of enough doses to treat everyone by the end of March when the US will take to the end of the year to get 300 million doses while half of Pfizer's production is in the US.
Evidently, just my thinking and it may be wrong but it sounds like Isreal was more serious about solving the problem in their country than we were in ours.

Pfizer is a global company. I’m not certain they are manufacturing the vaccine outside the U.S., but they definitely have production facilities around the world.
From their own website;

Pfizer, with more than 170 years of experience and hundreds of products to its name, continues to invest more than $1B annually into its manufacturing sites.

Our global manufacturing network includes more than 35 sites across six continents. From these facilities, we deliver technical expertise, global regulatory support and reliable supply to customers across the world.

Return to normalcy. Not happening. The collective hope was a vaccine. Well, now the "experts" are saying, get this shot, but still wear your masky and dont go near anyone. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

The availability of vaccine is not the problem. The resources to get it into 330 million arms is the problem. Times 2 if you count the second shot.

Biden is going to start releasing the second doses being held back for those that have already had the first shot....so more people can be vaccinated...BUT we've only used 5.9 million of the 29.4 million doses distributed so far. WHY would he put people at further risk? Clearly some people aren't getting the vaccine for whatever reason. This is nuts.

The current administration has done a great job of getting the vaccine available...but, yes, the rollout here in Texas has had several hiccups. IF Biden does what he says, it will really screw things up. Hopefully the pharmacists will do the right thing and hold back enough vaccine to get people in the highest risk categories the second dose on schedule.

Not anything Biden can or will do until Jan.20. Biden is not doing this alone. He has knowledgeable people involved in the process advising him. I expect a much more coordinated process coming with vaccines being distributed faster. Increased production will serve to provide the second doses to those centers that have administered the first dose. I got my shot yesterday with a date for the second one, and Monday I will be notified of my exact appointment time for it. Hopefully more of this type of organization is on its way.

I hope you're right, but Biden and his team have already said they will release the doses currently being held back for a second dose...
