I have been an advocate of doing away with minimum wage and let business pay what the job is worth to them and let the worker decide if it is the job for them. But that may be another topic for another day. Looks like Biden has already come out supporting a $15 minimum wage. Seems like bad news for small businesses that are already on the ropes.

It will force business owners to cut hours. Fewer full time employees and more part time 20's and part time 30's.

I have never made minimum wage. Some people deserve less. I think businesses should decide.

Since a pandemic cost more than 20,000,000 jobs?

It’s a dumb idea. It’s not death do small businesses. Let’s say I own a fast food joint. Right now the guy working the drive through makes $10/hr. A number one combo costs $6.99. Now I have to pay the same guy $15/hr. Guess what? Now a number one combo costs $7.99.

So the guy makes more money but the cost of living goes up proportionately for the same guy. His rent is now more expensive bc the landscape contract at his apartment went up, etc.

Just wait, this won't be the only thing. Next they'll be pushing a requirement for full insurance and paid family leave benefits for any job 20 hours a week or more.

That $15/hr is quickly going to cost businesses $25/hr.

I would not be against a minimum wage in half a dozen states but its only to keep them from slave wages.
The problem is low starting wage states are that way for a reason.

The difference between $15 in Texas and NY is huge. So here is my point. Making it a national standard would force people from some states to move to others.

If a guy could get $15 dollars in the DFW area, they would leave NYC where they make $20p in droves.

At 13/14 I worked in a restaurant washing pots, pans and cooking utensils by hand for $2 cash/hour. Then I got promoted to scraping off plates and stuff the waiters cleared from tables...I’d send the stacks of scraped dinnerware to the dishwasher for cleaning. It was still $2 cash, but I could eat stuff off of plates they brought back. Sometimes it was the only thing I’d eaten that day. True story.
