Are there any legal issues with picking up fallen trees from parks or roadways?

Are there any legal issues with picking up fallen trees from parks or roadways? As long as you get your fallen tree permit you should be ok.
This thread needs more cowbell ...

As long as the tree is not in the shape of a 2x4, 2x6 or 2x12 I think you're good.
I've done it before at places that had pushed over trees for a neighborhood or other development. Never had an issue. One time I had a developer, or guy who worked for the developer stop me. He gave me thanks. He said the more I take the less he has to pay someone else to remove the trees.

I know you can't collect firewood at Lloyd park in Grand Praire on Joe Pool. Just tell them you are building a hut.

Most state parks I have been too have signs that say not to pick up any firewood and it must be purchased.

Wear a construction reflective jacket. Everyone will think you're legit and not ask any questions.

Itโs called ditch wood and yes you can get it as long as you donโt loiter around and let other people see you get it.

It's my understanding that Texas State Parks do not allow gathering of firewood. Don't know about other parks.
