I use cable zip ties, I attach one on the rod above the reel, put the hook into the circle of the zip tie, then I wrap the line around the rod so the guides hold it in place. I do this with all my rods, crappie and bass. Saves a lot of tangled mess. I also use lure wraps to keep the hooks from getting snagged on stuff like carpet and people.
