they've run out of subs for all the teachers with covid so today the entire 6th grade is home and doing virtual learning.

My wife is retired now, she did some limited subbing in the fall. They are calling her everyday now. She's decided not to do any subbing for a while or until she gets vaccinated.

I’m glad I’m part time and don’t go in the building, Coach football and track mostly all outside but do have to be in the weight room. Got my vaccine last Saturday and will feel much better after the 2nd one. My wife is a school librarian and I worry about her until she gets her 2nd one. It’s impossible to find subs, the district has begged me to sub for the whopping stunt man pay of $125 a day. No thanks.

There's a tax credit for having your kids home last year from covid, when the schools and daycares were all closed.
$50
whheeeee, that's really a big help

The cases at our schools have been very low. We canceled online learning and all students had to report to school on Tuesday.

Frost ISD moved their return from Christmas Break on 1/5 to 1/11 due to the same reason. Not enough subs to cover those out at the moment.

they've run out of subs for all the teachers with covid so today the entire 6th grade is home and doing virtual learning. I guess there's no way of knowing, but are these teachers getting sick at work or out on their own time I wonder? how many kids are getting reportedly sick? for sure having young ones in school now must me a nightmare to manage...…..

There have been no reports of 6th graders having it at my daughter's school, but there were some in 3rd grade before the xmas break.
