Looking at getting a new Mustang with HIT BUT getting older and leaning towards a full vest with zip and clips.

I like the lightweight of wearing the inflatable but like the security of the full vest plus it's about 1/3 the price.

Maybe I should get both - wear the vest spring and fall and the inflatable during the summer

I just bought the Accel100 and will pony up for the inflatable in summer.

Anyone ever have their inflatable not inflate?

Buy a good one and maintain it and it will perform.


Like most other things, you get what you pay for...

I've never had to use mine to see if it would fail.

However, I've taken Wakeboat waves (Alan Henry) and Yacht waves (P.K.) over my bow 3 different times while on spotlock or anchor and somehow my autoinflates ended upon on the floor of my boat and inflated all 3 times.

I have worn an auto inflatable for 20 years and never had one fail to deploy...the deployments I experienced have been due to me forgetting to remove it before getting in the water..or my grandson jumping in the water before I change out the expired auto activator just for the experience . For the past ten years have worn a Mustang HIT...besides the automatic deploy, it has a manual deploy that you can use....I inspect mine every year, check to make sure the CO2 is still in tact...and that the air bladder will stay inflated by blowing it up with the tube and letting it sit over night. It is so light and comfortable I usually forget to remove it until I get back to my truck...
