Need some help with my lowrance hds 8. Bought this unit used but it looks brand new. Installed it and turned it on and everything seemed to be working fine. Took it to the lake today and after I turned it on, the screen immediately started flashing. Screen flashes from normal brightness to dim and flashes back and forth.Anybody had this happen with their units. Thanks!

I know with the new units, this type of problem leans toward a power issue. Do you have this connected to your starting battery (which you should), do you re-charge this battery (which you should) and how old is the battery. Do you know the seller of the unit well enough to call them and get an honest answer if this problem existed before you bought it?

Jacked around with the battery today and found an in-line fuse that was warm to the touch. Seemed to be a little loose so I put a new fuse in and used electrical tape to keep it connected. Unit is no longer flashing/flickering but is now sounding an alarm for low voltage. I’m gonna check the battery tomorrow but problem seems to be fixed!
