I am making my first trip down to Lake Whitney from Arlington. What are some of the better boat ramps down there? Looking for one that might have a bait shop. Going to try and find some stripers and if I do great, and if I don't, great. Just looking to relax on the water and regenerate a bit.

Ive launched at Loofers bend, Harbor Master and McCowan, McCowan is the best of those 3. Dont know of any bait shop on the water, theres a Marina turn off on the road to McCowan, dont know if it has bait though. Theres is a bait shop just as you go through Whitney on 22 on the right hand side, theres another on on 1713 on the right on the road to McCowan ramp called the Lucky Minnow. Hope that helps some. Recently early in the morning theres been some stripers on the West side in the coves. Head out of McCowan and make a turn west and head straight towards to west side of the lake and look for the birds circling.

Thanks guys, I was thinking McCowan Park or one of the State Parks? Heading out Friday morning with a thermos of coffee and a big fat cigar. Time to relax.

Lamp Post on the corner has bait. They have some frozen shad. I would probably scoot down to Unc Gusses for some live perch, if its live bait your after.
