Golf will always make more since it is mainstream.

I think golf has the advantage just because of the tv coverage and really big money sponsorship it’s just boring for me to watch. I think a lot of people don’t really know much about pro fishing, and I’m sure a lot of people think it’s boring also, it’s hard for fishing the have any paid spectators.

Generally, I don't think watching pro fishing is boring ----except for video game fishing for smallies or ledge fishing (Kentucky Lake). I'd rather watch a 350 yard drive or a 30' putt any day.

There are dozens of reasons golf is a bad comparison economically, but one big one is, it’s way, way, way easier to televise, since everyone in the field plays the same holes. It’s harder to televise than almost any other sport, but it’s easier to do than fishing. And, to your point, gate receipts are huge (during a normal year). Concessions are huge, too, which means sponsors have captive audience on the course and at home. It’s just totally different.

Golf will always be bigger and it is silly to think it will change. MLF is trying very hard to get non endemic income but at the end of the day it will almost always be fishing a fruit jar derby. It is simply a niche sport and that is ok. If it was a real sport these guys would not have second jobs.

when flw was going big they partnered with wal mart to strong arm some of their suppliers like kellog an the such that really had nothing to do with fishing except to pic up expenses for some of the touring pros did not get roi so that deal went away.it is harder an harder to get folks to open their checkbooks for non mainstream sports.

A percentage of the "pros" are guys with money and like to fish. The same as your average fisherman goes fishing for "fun", these "pros" can afford their "fun" to cost 6 figures a year.
