About 14-15 years ago I was driving my truck north on Hwy 75 going thru Richardson. Going about 65 MPH. Two idiots on rice burners came up quickly behind me and shifted into the lane to my left to pass, doing at least 75 I guess. The 2nd idiot must have hit something small in the road and he lost it right off my front left bumper. He started tumbling all over the road and the bike was skidding in front of me. Me and a bunch of others were swerving all over the place trying to miss him and/or the bike. He came to a stop against one of those concrete barriers that divide the north/south lanes and the bike ended up on the right shoulder. Somehow none of us in vehicles hit him or any of us.
I pulled over and the guy managed to get up and walked about 10 feet before he fell down. He was not at all dressed for a bike ride. He did have a helmet, but was in a tee shirt, shorts and tennis shoes with no socks. There didn't appear to be a square inch of exposed skin that wasn't road-rashed up! I think when folks buy those type of bikes someone sticks a large syringe into their brain and sucks out all of the good sense they might have. I've even had guys going faster than me on a freeway who would do wheelies in the midst of heavy traffic.

Riding wheelies on the interstate is a rush though, everyone should try it once. I couldn’t stay up for too long, but I have a fishing buddy that can ride a wheelie for what seems like miles and miles. He can even slow down and speed p and turn on a wheelie. He could ride a wheelie on the clover leaf ramps till we got tired of watching him.

And, I seriously doubt that everyone should try doing wheelies on a major freeway at least once. Totally stupid remark!

Hitting a deer is bad enough in a car. I used to have a Miata and several years ago while driving past the Kerrville airport, a whitetail ran out into the road and literally jumped over car. I heard one of the deer's hooves graze the soft top. Miraculously, no damage.

First he was not wearing proper gear. Even a mesh armored jacket would have kept him from road rash. He was leaning away from the corner which is bad technique, pushing the bike over farther than it needed to be. Looks like he tried to turn the handlebars to the right to go right and grabbed the front brake at the same time locking it and loosing control.
Also learning good riding technique. If his weight was on the centerline of the bike and he counter steered rather than panic grabbing the brake and trying to turn the handlebars Maybe....just maybe he could have made it. Then again I have never been in that situation with a deer. Dodged rabbits before but if I hit them it is not catastrophic like a deer. Still, maybe smacking the deer would have been better?
Easy to play armchair QB.
Anyone who does spirted riding on a sporty bike should do a ridesmart track day.

only laid mine down at speed once, but I did have my "hold my beer" moment, literally.
got smart with another rider at a stop sign, soon as the car cleared we hit it, then I hit a tree. tree was about 3' wide live oak, other bike swerved into my part of the lane just enough to push me, the tree won. oh, he did not do it on purpose, lost traction (we were both smokin em, lol).
had a sportster back then and a very good friend that worked at the harley shop in midwest city. good times.
I do wish that I had video of that one, about 35 mph face plant. forgot about the wreck of 76, haven't rode since.

Hurts just to think about it. my 20s had some rough spots. last one almost killed me, got run off a 70 mph hiway on to a circular ramp, lost it before I could slow down enough to make it. bike rode me for about 75 yds. was over my upper body and I was face down. helmet saved my arse that day, guy on the back (takin him to pick his up) got the grass and I got the asphalt. was in a coma for a week and had well over 200 stitches, still have purple scars. never been on a bike since, figured out I am not a good rider. lol
