I'm headed down to Corpus after work today. I plan on fishing the Captain Clark (Phase II Express) Friday morning and taking a 9 hour trip with Dolphin Dock on Saturday. If I can catch better fish from the banks on Friday, I'd rather do that. Any advice? Oh yeah...what is PINS? I know what SPID is but not familiar with PINS. Also, when you guys fish the Packery channel, do you fish from the park or is there a better place that I'm not aware of.

pins is padre isalnd national sea shore....great place to surf fish if u have 4wd...myself and about 20 other officers take a trip there in november for the bull red run...hardly ever fish the pack...bob hall pier at night supposed to be good right now...good luck

Packery channel has 2 jetties now. That's where the fishing is. Don't even bother trying to fish Packery channel county park, or around the boat ramp area and bridge. Nothing but perch now, unless you have a kayak, to get over the boat channel to the deeper water, or are prepared to go on a marathon wade-find up the back of Mustang island!
Last time i was there (about a week ago), we caught smacks, and a guy on the end had a nice trout. I have been back since, but weed was so bad, i just left. The week before that, we had smacks and trout, and I seen 2 kingfish steaming by. I was told that crevalles were being caught there around that time, and i did see some occasional big bait fish chasing going on.

Got back Sunday. Caught a lot of baits with my cast net. Fished a bay trip (waste of money). Fished Bob Hall, caught 4 puppy sharks, lots of sand trout, lots of bait fish. Went on a deep sea trip. Caught red snapper 'til my arm almost fell off (limit 2 so the rest was for fun). The deckhands wouldn't give me shark bait and got mad at me every time I threw back a keeper fish (I already had my limit but they wanted to keep the fish for the sick people who paid to go fishing but didn't fish). We were fishing a spot that had a terrible current and our lines kept getting tangled. At one point, me and another guy had such a bad tangle and the deckhands wouldn't help so I just cut our lines loose and grabbed us two new poles. The deckhands threatened to charge me for the rigs. I laughed. I'll never fish with Dolphin Dock again.

Dolphin Dock did that? Woa that's wierd u must have gotten someone in a really pissy mood usually they are awsome especially if you get the captain's son as a deck hand I have never had a bad trip with them.

Why would people go on a trip, and not fish???

Last time out I fished with Captain Tim and his son Timmy. Had a great time. This time...not so much. Captains name was Chris and deckhands were not too friendly/helpful.
