Does the place at Fork sell baits,..? Yes but they have abbreviated hours this time of year. Check their website before you go.

Real nice. Is that 3.16 Glide on the market? No sir and thats the problem. Not only are they $250 but he only builds a few at a time. Then when the bait "drops" (I feel like my 19 yr old son) they sell out in about 20 mins. If you miss the "drop", or presale or pre-order or aren't part of the cool kids club, you can find them on the black market all the time. Occasionally you'll find them for less than retail. https://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/search/&q=Workhorse&quick=1

I'm surprised you were not throwing the new Hinkle.

Gotta draw the hard line on spending $250.00 for a bait.

https://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/search/&q=Workhorse&quick=1 as posted prior. Also check out swimbait universe and swimbait the south on FB. Some of these guys are crazy, its a whole sub-culture in itself. There are cheaper options that are also well built, and, you will probably discover some hard and soft bait makers in your backyard. Nice fish Ken.

Very nice fish congrats that should work on other lakes also, I’m betting a 12lber+ would bite that on fork if fished enough under the right conditions.

I'm surprised you were not throwing the new Hinkle. I did. I had an 8" Hinkle on one rod and an 8" Workhorse Glide by 3:16 on the other rod. I alternated back & forth with the two. The 3:16 bait swims much more naturally than the Hinkle. No question about it. I consider Mickey Ellis a friend but this is not a promo for his baits. I threw both baits 8 of the 10 hours we were on the water that day. I would set them down and throw a jig or Mag Fluke to rest my shoulder from time to time. Not as young as I used to be. Only had the two bites all day but the fish weren't jumping in the boat by any means. Both of my partners that day are excellent anglers and stuck with more traditional stuff. They had 2 fish on a Mag Fluke, 5 on a 8" Zoom lizard, one on a spinnerbait. NOne of them were over 4 pounds. Dan's 7.64 came on a 2.5 square bill near dusk on WP. I know some may think that paying that much money to fish a private high-fenced lake would be automatic for a DD but you still have to work for them. There is just a higher potential for a 15+ at CB than any place else I know of.

Ken,
Great fish and what a fun way to catch them! To put things into perspective I think you should tell people how often you are at CB. Like you said, you put your time in out there to get that teener. It’s not automatic! Congrats on another hog. Enjoyed your post as always.

Thanks bud, I am blessed to get to fish CB about 6-7 times a year so I target winter or early spring in an attempt to catch the fish at their heaviest weight. My next big bass extravaganza is scheduled for 2/26 with none other than the legendary Dr JL. Teeners are not automatic no matter where you fish, even CB. I have logged approx 75 trips to CB since 2010 and I have landed exactly ONE teener. To be fair, in March of 2018 I had a 13-14 pound fish on a Mag Fluke hooked but I couldn't close the deal and she eluded me.
