What would be best clear water lakes within 2 hours of dfw? Want to throw some big glidebaits this winter and looking for some better water clarity.

Athens, Whitney (sometimes), Clark used to crystal clear...maybe this spring it will return to clean, joe pool was so clear one day I just went home, because I could see the bottom, without sunglasses, in 30 ft and I didn’t see any fish.

I think they’re all dependent on current vegetation levels, algae levels (joe pool...it was the summer solstice and the little bit of extra sunlight bleached the algae to the point it wasn’t staining the water at all). Clark normally has a huge amount of grasses and pads that filter the water...not so much this past year. Athens still is the clear water king around this area.

South end and even mid lake on PK can get clear. Hubbard Creek if it hasn't rained in a little while.

Pk is plenty clear for sure 10 or 12 ft of visibility on the south end . Fishing is tough but PK has always been a good winter time lake though. at least the dang boaters are not so many now

Kayak/canoe or other vessel without a live well or bilge: Wheeler Branch.

Parts of Texoma. Be prepared for a monster striper to break your arm off.
