Neighbor texted me today that some random truck drove up and looked in our mailboxes this morning. Got a pretty clear video of it on our driveway cam. It's not a community mailbox or anything, just share it with my one neighbor. Guessing their looking for Christmas cards full of cash. Isn't that a federal crime? Should we file a report with the FWPD?

If there were others who saw it in your neighborhood the post office might be able to use your pic.

I would. Video you have won't get much of a response, but if a string of incidents like this keeps happening in your area, patrols may increase and your images may be an asset if they get more info later.

On a side note : I feel awkward bother the police with these things as they seem a waste of time I guess. But you gotta get this stuff documented so that if something does come of it nobody’s in the dark about it and there is tangible evidence to convict scum such as this . I had an incident this week and where I called out the sheriff for a suspicious person/behavior after he was already confronted about what he was doing in the neighborhood. I felt like such a Karen but the cops stopped and talked to him so it might have saved somebody some headache in the future now that he knows people are paying attention.

Mail theft is at its highest during the summertime and Christmas time but happens on a daily basis cameras have in the past busted identity theft rings all across the DFW area. Not sure what city you are in but the Dallas district inspection service number is 877-876-2455 Grand Prairie is border for Dallas district, arlington is in the Fort Worth district. I would alert all your neighbors just to give them a heads up.

We're in Fort Worth. My neighbor said he sent the video to our HOA to alert everyone. I'm gonna stop by and talk to him after work to see if they've already reported it.

couple of yrs. ago I watched someone do that out here about this time of yr. but by the time it hit me what they were doing they were long gone.

I make it a point now to check the mail about the time I know they have delivered it.

Report it to the Postmaster General. They are bound to have taken something from someone.

I would atleast call and let them know where and what time so they could step up patrols. It would be good if you had plate numbers. It could have been your mailbox, the next neighborhood he could have been in cars, could have been a stolen truck, etc.
