Still angry about cypress?

Who isn't?
But, I thought that Franklin Co were the ones who (bowed to landowners) killed all the grass...
I've talked to some landowners there who say "man, I don't know what happened here. The water was soooo pretty years ago" - I just LOL.

Btw, Fork can't be "recreated". TPW did their part and nature did its part - TPW just claims all the credit. They've tried this on several lakes, hasn't really worked again.

Yep those IDIOTS never learn.

Not to forget Roberts and Chambers...

I'm curious as to how Nac will age.

I think what people are asking for is moderation. Keeping the pipes clear and preventing oxygen choking amounts of vegetation is understandable; but, grass/vegetation is an excellent water filter. Eradicating it harms the water supply and results in soil erosion.

They were spraying on Sam Rayburn today and I also seen them earlier in the week. Looks like they are targeting the Giant Salvania. They are using an air boat to get around in.

But automatically defending all actions taken by TPWD in the name of “water supply” is odd to me also. The whole purpose of TPWD is to manage outdoor recreation in the state of Texas.

Let us see this long list of great things . . . .

Don't even think about listing "Share a Lunker".
TPWDs way of justifying their own jobs via glossy photos of smiling anglers holding fish that TPWD had nothing to do with.

Go talk to touring professionals that fish all the best lakes nationwide... they will tell you hands down TPWD is the best in the nation. Armchair quarterback it all you want.

As last I checked TPWD did not put hydrilla on the invasive species list, that was done by the feds. I’ve seen hyacinth take over entire creeks making them look like dry land. Giant Salvinia choking out every pocket in a creek making it unfishable. They have to do something and unfortunately you can’t kill one plant without killing the others right next to it. I love fishing Hydrilla, my home lake is loaded with it right now... but I know as soon as it makes it’s way down to the section with homeowners and starts choking out their docks it will be gone. Hard for a managing authority to ignore the homeowners when they have the invasive species card to play. What card do the fishermen have to play against the invasive species? Better fishing? Happier fish? Fishermen loose that battle 100% of the time.

Way back to the OP’s question... the fishing starts to decline right away after spraying from what I’ve seen. They don’t all leave right away but they don’t stay very long.

Unfortunately that will kill any hay grass or hydrilla in the area also... same as they do on Toledo for the Salvinia.

Growing up around the farming and cattle industry I believe its possible to manufacture a target herbicide to most any single species.. however that takes a lot of time and money , right now there is no one willing to do that because its wouldn't be profitable.. JMO.

They been doing it on Rayburn for 20+ years. Fishing is great and hydrilla is as good as it's been in a decade. Of course many of these areas are void of vegetation to start with except for the salvinia. Rayburn may not be the best example as it seems to only infest the upper reaches of the lake.

cities with lakes get millions of $ from the people who fish their lakes and to kill off the vegitation killing the lake also kill a lot of income to the city and tax $ money to.I am sure that would be more $ than the people on the lakes would be paying .There has to be a way for the lake lot owners to stop the grass around there lake front with out killing the whole lake
