Does anyone know the immediate effect on the fish in an area that has just been sprayed or how it will affect the fishing in that area the next month or 2?

The effect of spraying a lake to get rid of weeds can be described as "The death of a lake" as far as fishing is concerned. Look no further than Coleto Creek just outside Victoria . Use to be one of the best power plant lakes in the state then came in the parks and wildlife and killed off the vegetation. Use to be able to catch quality fish on the lake most any day but now catching a keeper is an accomplishment . Grass and vegetation never came back , fry from spawn had nowhere to hide , End of Fishery !!!!!

It has been about 10 years on my lake with no sign of any vegetation. It was a combination of spraying AND 1500 grass carp.

Spraying for what vegetation? Up north on Rayburn they've sprayed for years and hasn't changed the fishing.

have they killed the hydrilla ??
Its been my finding anytime the aquatic vegetation the fish live in is lost due to spraying or natural--be it from COLD water temps in a hard winter or excessive quick lake drawdowns.. It's going to hurt the fishery!! How bad depends on many factors.
As for the OP you remove there home and there buffet table and there going to leave and adapt or die.

It would be real interesting to know how much money chemical companies have spent on to influence politicians and biologists (scholarships, grants) to get their approval to kill our lakes...every single lake they have sprayed it has ruined the fishing and in severa lakes, it has never returned...

Yep, it happens over and over. Grass disappears, fishing suffers. Fork. Martin Creek. Purtis Creek. Jacksonville.

We moved to Tyler in the 90s. Lake Tyler was full of grass and fishing was very good. The city killed the grass and the fishing declined very noticeably. Ten years later the hydrilla came back and fishing became fantastic again. The city and TP&WD brought in the hit squad that decimated Conroe, sprayed enough to kill everything, and now I won't drive five miles to launch my boat there unless a tournament makes me go. We have even switched the trails that we fish to get away from Tyler.

The people who are supposed to look out for fishermen in Texas are instead helping damage our lakes.

Got to be something to it. I am sick and tired of the spraying.

This is why I’ll never buy a lake property.
Too much of a gamble knowing that the vegetation/fish habitat killers could show up at anytime.

I blame our fishery biologists for allowing this to happen...they ought to be screaming bloody murder for allowing someone to kill the fish habitat in our lakes...they wouldn't allow someone to destroy the wildlife habitat by cutting down the trees in our national parks and they damn sure ought to be protecting the only habitat the fish have in older reservoirs...

most lakes were not built for fishing it is a by product be happy the is as many lakes the we have in tx if you were paying property tax on a waterfront home an couldnt get to your dock for water weeds it would be a different story.

Be happy with sparse to no vegetation and muddy nasty lakes? If you own waterfront property you are paying taxes for YOUR property, not the lake, it's the land.

Here's a clue, stay in your lane. Lots of other ways to deal with aquatic vegetation around your dock than chemicals. Ignorance runs rampant amongst our civilization for sure!

I'd be more worried about future lake levels. A bunch of lakes will have dry ramps in the near future
