Outstanding job! I had one of those back in the late 70's. It was my first bass boat and I really enjoyed it.

great job........is that a 50 hp johnson motor?.. Yes. That’s what it’s rated for on the manufacturer serial number plate. Was surprised but googled it and came up with a pic of the Starcraft specs for that year and it is 50 hp rated. Handles quite well with almost no steering torque. Thanks to all for the compliments. It’s been a fun project.

That's a real beauty.
I have many fond memories of my old '67 Super Skeeter that would make a good project when I retire. Assuming I could find one.

Brings back good memories. My first "bass boat" was an Ouchita with stick steering and a 55 Johnson. Caught a lot of fish out of that little boat.
Very nice job on yours!

Great job! You brought it back to life. What product/process did you use to remove the oxidation and restore the shine? JAlfred, 3M makes multiple refinishing products for projects like this. You want to use the one with the least amount of abrasives necessary to "take off" the oxidation which naturally occurs over the years depending on use, UV exposure, indoor or outdoor storage and other factors. I bought three different 3M products, tested each on a small area on the transom and went with the one below because it did the least color removal while bringing back some shine. The before and after pic is without waxing, just the 3M product. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-15349-77783-3m_restorer.jpg) Believe I got the 3M bottles at Academy. Applied the Restorer with a small orbital sander with a terry cloth polishing cloth which is attached onto the velcro polishing surface. In the next few weeks plan to apply some "Pro-Tec Sealant" to finish the "waxing" process. For boat applications it lasts longer than traditional waxes. MDM, thanks for taking the time to share this info with me. Now I just need to gin up some of your work ethic to tackle my (much smaller) project.
