The Breakers always was my favorite Newport Mansion Mr. Vanderbilt. (I grew up in RI, every July during my dad's vacation we'd go to Newport for a day, visit two mansions and have clam cakes and chowder at First Beach.)

MERCY - not receiving what you deserve
GRACE - receiving what you don't deserve
America's MESS = God's miracle fixes
I'd rather walk with God with no questions answered than to walk thru life without Him and know the answers

Did anyone mention that you didn’t have any grass? I like practical jokes. But, I hope you didn’t fall for that for more than a few years.

At one time was a barn and it was converted to this house. Nearest house at that time was a mile through the apple orchard to the little 2 lane hiway. Good deer, pheasant and grouse hunting. In late fall and winter the apples that weren't harvested lay under the snow and the deer would dig through the snow. Great place for my brother and I to grow up.

The view of the Atlantic across the manicured lawn is nice, but it took me all day to mow that grass.

Mine was in old east Dallas on Lindsley.
It was torn down years ago, but it looked similar to Big Bob's house.

When we moved back to Texas, from Mexico, we lived in something very similar to this on the banks of Lake Lavon. Didn’t last but a year, then my mom sold the ‘63 Vette and trailer and moved us to South Dakota. We started out very poor. My mom fed us day old donuts for a few months until she got a job at a funeral home. Two years later, my mom and dad got remarried and they eventually bought their first house in a little housing development called The Colony. Now The Colony is a city. In the 70’s, it was about 200 Fox&Jacobs houses in the middle of nowhere. I was bussed to Lewisville for schools, until Camey elementary was built...then went to Delay Middle School in Lew...then I was given a hardship license and continued going to Lewisville schools even after we moved around.

Just curious...what area were y'all at Lake Lavon?
I remember when The Colony was just a housing development.
It was out in the middle of nowhere back then.
